What to do if you have scabies

 Scabies is a contagious skin condition caused by tiny mites called Sarcoptes scabiei. These mites burrow into the skin, causing intense itching and a pimple-like rash. It spreads through close physical contact and can affect anyone.


 


Key Symptoms:


Intense itching, especially at night


Red bumps or blisters on the skin


Thin, irregular burrow tracks made up of tiny blisters or bumps


Commonly affected areas: wrists, elbows, armpits, waist, groin, and between fingers



Treatment:


Prescription creams/lotions: Like permethrin 5% cream, applied over the entire body


Oral medication: Ivermectin in severe or crusted scabies


Wash bedding/clothes: Hot water and dry on high heat


Avoid close contact: Until treatment is 

complete
